In an era of misinformation enabled by social media, we identify one especially nasty example: the movement against circumcision. It uses topical rhetoric, like that of human rights activism and social justice, to disarm audiences against harmful misinformation about the subject of male circumcision.
This campaign dubs itself "intactivism" to brand circumcised men as"not whole". Circumcised men are whole and intact - that is, less likely to fall victim to penile issues that make a man not so, like phimosis or penile cancer. Such is the first toxic layer of many that comprise the movement against circumcision. We represent the quiet majority when we say we are sick of them all and that it is time to clean house.
